Dr. Reid grew up on an acreage in Hazleton, Iowa with a wide variety of animals. Time spent with her personal animals growing up led to her desire to be a Veterinarian at an early age. Shelly attended Wartburg as an undergraduate and graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. Since vet school she has worked at several mixed animal practices and loves the fact that she sees a variety of patients on a daily basis. She currently resides in rural Independence, Iowa with her Great Pyrenees, Annie; Miniature Donkey, Junior; and cats, Feathers, Pippy, Scrappy, Bebe, Bopper & Mischief. In Shelly's spare time she enjoys doing anything outside.
Veterinary Assistant & EIA Labratory Director
Leah Higgins originally grew up on a farm in Ionia, Iowa where she had several species of animals which sparked her interest in working in the veterinary field. Leah completed the Veterinary Assistant program at Northeast Iowa Community College-Calmar in 2001. She currently lives in Aurora, Iowa with her family. Which includes her significant other Mike & children Mason, Anna & Anthony. She also has a grown son named Cody. Her animal family includes cows, horses, ponies, ducks, chickens, cats, dogs & 1 lone goat. In her spare time she enjoys attending her children's school events & horse shows.
Jeanne grew up on an farm in rural Independence. Jeanne & her husband Le have been milking cows for over 30 years. She has 3 children; Christy (Brett), Sara & Ryan & 2 grandchildren. Jeanne has a wide variety of animals on her farm including cows, ponies, sheep, donkey's, dogs & multiple farm cats. Jeanne enjoys spending time watching her grand kids grow.
Ernie came to our clinic in 2007. Originally he was adopted from a shelter but was not a good fit for his new home. Ernie, however, was purrfect for us and became part of our clinic family. Now in his senior years, he is still going strong thanks to his excellent veterinary care. His most important role is his ability to bring a smile to our face even on the most hectic day.
Professional Pet Stylist, Veterinary Assistant & EIA Technician
Megan currently resides in Independence, Iowa. She lives with her two sons; Talan & Kamden. From a young age she had a love of animals which drove her into the veterinary profession. Megan became a staff member in 2007 and began grooming for the clinic in 2009. She enjoys spending time with her two Pugs, a French Mastiff & an English Bulldog, along with kayaking, boating & attending a variety of her children's sporting events.
Dr. Fox serves as a relief veterinarian for the Jesup clinic. She earned her title of D.V.M. from Iowa State University in 1994 and has worked at various veterinary clinics in northeast Iowa. In addition to utilizing conventional medicine, Dr. Fox also specializes in natural therapies for all species of animals. She currently lives near Wadena, Iowa with her husband, Gary, two horses (Chaser and Pal), and their nine house cats. In her spare time, Dr. Fox loves to hike in northeast Iowa as well as spend time in mountains of Colorado.

Shelby originally grew up in Nebraska, but has lived in Iowa for 10 years. Newlywed with her husband Ryan in November of 2020. They reside on a acreage in Coggon. In addition to working at the Vet Clinic she works down in Iowa City Emergency Room as an ER Tech. Shelby and her husband enjoy going on hikes, fishing and spending time with family. Shelby loves to be around and helping any animal; big or small.
Sam grew up in Iowa; and now resides in Buchanan County. While working at the Clinic; Sam is also in school. She keeps busy with school, family and working, but when she has time she likes to go on nature walks with her family and her dog; enjoys watching Netflix with her cats, Max, Bear & Montana and the family.
